Entry
Requirements

A Level- for BEng schemes are BBC - CCC (280 -240 points). for MEng are ABB -BBB (320 - 300) Mathematics is essential, but, Cardiff also encourages you to apply if you're expecting to achieve high grades at BTEC or National Certificate Level. And if you fit this criterion, but choose not to study mathematics to this level, there is a Foundation Year scheme designed to equip you with mathematics and engineering principles in preparation for your first year.
Two AS subjects may be considered instead of an A-level, but not for A-level Mathematics.

GCSE-Applicants to the \'Year in France/Germany/Spain\' scheme are required to offer Grade C or higher at GCSE in the appropriate language (or an equivalent qualification).

Additional information
The degree programme has a modular structure, with core subjects being studied throughout. These subjects are the principal strands of the discipline: mathematics, statics, dynamics, solid mechanics, properties of materials, thermodynamics, electrical engineering and electronics, fluid mechanics and business management. These subjects are supplemented by more specialist disciplines and course work, which includes studies in communication, experimentation, computing, laboratory work and design. In addition, the languages French, German and Spanish may be studied as an option.
