Additional information
The Foundation Year provides preparation in the subjects needed for progression to level one of our degree programmes.
A Foundation Year is not necessarily right for you if you have tried but failed to meet the normal entry requirements for level one. They are aimed at students who, for whatever reason, need additional preparation or additional science subjects before going on to benefit from an Engineering or Science degree.
Our offer levels are flexible according to your circumstances but you will usually be expected to achieve a similar standard in your chosen A Level or other exams to those required for students directly entering level one.
You will also need a science background at GCSE or equivalent with a grade B in any science subject you want to take in the Foundation Year (except in the case of Engineering degrees where a grade C in Physics is acceptable).
The degree programmes with a Foundation Year are for students with A Level-standard qualifications, although not necessarily in appropriate subjects. However, there are some students from overseas who have completed their secondary school education in the right subjects but obtained qualifications below A Level standard.
If this applies to you, you should contact the relevant admissions tutor. If you have gained very high marks in your secondary education you may still be able to gain a place on one of the degrees with a Foundation Year. |
